    Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) is a non-profit charter school management organization designed to significantly increase college entrance and graduation rates for underserved students in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.


    Our mission at PUC Schools is to develop and manage high quality charter schools in densely populated urban communities with overcrowded and low achieving schools. We create school programs and cultures that result in college graduation for all students. We uplift and revitalize communities through the development of educational and other supportive partnerships.


    Job Purpose:

    Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the Deputy Superintendent will be involved in supporting the day-to-day regional schools’ performance and functions that lead to overall success of the school.


    Organizational Practices:

    • Be an organizational leader who will motivate, lead, and mentor those within the school community and who will collaborate with the home office and Superintendent in order to ensure effective fiscal and operational practices in support of the achievement of the school-wide improvement plan
    • Support the Superintendent in developing community partnerships
    • Strategize and develop a plan in collaboration with the Superintendent
    • Oversee the academic success plans and collaborate with the Superintendent to ensure that the schools are on track to meet their academic goals
    • Meet with leaders regularly to review progress and to provide feedback and support
    • Review coaching materials and provide feedback and direction on how to effectively coach teachers
    • Provide assistance with the development and implementation of the Professional Development trainings for school sites
    • Support the Superintendent in identifying Professional Development needs develop and implement trainings for regional needs
    • Support the Superintendent in planning and provide oversight of staff and Principal meetings

    Finance and Operations:

    • Support the Superintendent in overseeing the schools’ budgets to ensure board approved budget is maintained
    • Support leaders to ensure they meet their Fundraising Plan
    • Oversee school operations and collaborate with the Superintendent to include, develop and implement efficient processes
    • Ensure school compliance with local policies and regulations as well as state requirements

    School Culture:

    • Be a cultural leader who will motivate, lead, and mentor the school community and collaborate with the Superintendent in order to leverage the outside community to increase academic and personal achievement so as to meet the goals set forth in the school wide improvement plan

    Vision and Improvement:

    • Promote PUC Schools’ values and vision while developing a sense of community in the school
    • Articulate the desired organization culture and provides evidence of success
    • Communicate effectively with the Superintendent and other stakeholders regarding progress towards goals outlined in School Improvement Plan

    School Community:

    • Foster and establish effective relationships with the staff, students, parents and peers
    • Attend and support school leaders with school events
    • Provide leadership for assessing and developing processes to improve climate and culture
    • Demonstrate visibility and engagement in the school community while being accessible and approachable to all stakeholders

    Building Leadership and Accountability:

    • Mentor and develop leaders
    • Develop an environment and processes for ongoing collaboration and reflective practices for all stakeholders


    Outside Community:

    • Build a network of peers, educational leaders and academic institutions to share ideas and best practices

    • Master’s degree (Preferred)
    • Holds a current California credential. A Clear Administrative credential preferred, but not required
    • Bi-lingual desired 
    • 5+ years of teaching experience
    • 5+ years of experience as a Principal
    • Detail oriented
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
    • Possess the skills to work independently as needed 
    • Pays attention to detail
    • Reflective learner and self-starter
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    • Problem solver, get the job done, can-do attitude
    • Be able to multi-task and follow through on projects from start to finish
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Office suite (emphasis on Excel) and Adobe Reader
    • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
