    Job Purpose

     

    Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Human Capital, the HR Manager will ensure day-to-day HR functions are carried out with success.

    Responsibilities

    Supervisory Functions

    • Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
    • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
    • Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
    • Ensures proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained.
    • Completes necessary performance assessments of subordinate staff.
    • Applies the laws, regulations, and principles of equal employment opportunity to personnel situations.
    • Directs staff in counseling management and employees on grievances and other complaints originating from individual work situations or work environments.
    • Develops assessment techniques and evaluates staff development and training programs, methods, and materials; makes or recommends improvements.
    • Establishes procedures and recommends changes in policy.

    Employee Relations

    • Assist team members and management with the interpretation and correct application of company policies, procedures, programs and practices, while exercising the highest degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
    • Provide assistance and guidance to managers with discipline concerns
    • Conduct or assist with investigations 
    • Ensure managers are adhering to our internal policies and procedures 
    • Compliance
    • Conduct periodic audits of employee files, benefits, time off, etc
    • Follow up with schools/employees concerning missing documents
    • Ensure team members are compliant
    • Prepare audits and financial audit
    • Keep abreast of new and changing federal and state laws

    Hiring/Exiting Process

    • Process paperwork for new hires
    • Conduct exit interviews
    • Process exiting employees

    Benefits

    • Work with HR team to ensure compliance with WC laws and OSHA compliance

    Misc.

    • Assist with developing policies & procedures
    • Enter information in HR system
    • Assist with HR events
    • Gather data and produce reports
    • Ad hoc assignments 
    • Develop assigned training modules and train when needed
    • Assess and identify areas where training is needed

    Qualifications

    Exper

    Experience and Education

    • B.A. degree required; M.A. or HR Certificate preferred
    • 5-7 years work experience within HR
    • Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Excel
    • Knowledge of ABRA desired
    • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
    • Ability to demonstrate leadership and lead a team
    • Great customer service skills
    • Organized and detail orientated 
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) 
    • Must be flexible and team-oriented
    • Able to multi-task in a fast paced environment
    • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
